Sebokeng road handed over to community by Cogta department yesterday

SEBOKENG - The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs yesterday handed over the Schalkwyk Road in Eatonside, Sebokeng Unit 6, under the Emfuleni Local Municipality. The road covers 3.46 km by 6m of tarred road. Approximately 4,899 households benefitted from the project with work opportunities created for 23 residents. Minister Thembisile Nkadimeng was joined by Gauteng MEC of COGTA Mzi Khumalo, the Sedibeng Executive Mayor, and the Emfuleni local municipality Mayor. The handover also went hand-in-hand with a community engagement session during which community members had an opportunity to voice their concerns regarding service delivery issues. They also expressed their gratitude for the development initiatives undertaken by the government in their locality. Addressing the gathering, Minister Nkadimeng assured the community that various levels of government are working together to address challenges such as water and electricity shortages, sewer system breakdowns, and other service delivery issues.
