Sebokeng SAPS Launches Investigation After Foetus Found Near Burst Sewage Pipe

The Sebokeng SAPS is investigating a tragic incident after a foetus was discovered near a burst sewage pipe at the bridge between Sonderwater and Kanana on Saturday, 26 April 2025. According to police, concerned community members alerted officers to the scene, where the lifeless foetus—still attached to the umbilical cord and placenta—was found in the water. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) declared the foetus dead on site. The remains have been sent to Forensic Pathology Services for further examination. Sebokeng Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane has appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone who may know a recently pregnant woman who no longer has a baby or was in the area to come forward.
