Sedibeng SAPS destroys confiscated liquor in ongoing compliance operation

SEDIBENG - The Sedibeng SAPS has disposed of liquor collected from several policing areas in the district as part of routine efforts to address unlicensed alcohol sales.

The disposal event formed part of a broader initiative to support compliance with liquor regulations and reduce alcohol-related crimes. The event was led by Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu, who highlighted the cooperative efforts of police stations across the district. A total of 2,164.93 millilitres of alcohol was destroyed, all of which had been confiscated from individuals and businesses operating without proper licenses and illegal establishments. SAPS members from Evaton, Meyerton, Ratanda, Sebokeng, Sharpeville, and Vereeniging attended the event, along with representatives from the Office of the Premier, the MMC of Safety and Security, the Liquor Board, Gauteng Traffic, Emfuleni By-Laws, Midvaal authorities, Traffic Wardens, and Community Policing Forums. Brigadier Nkhwashu stressed that ongoing collaboration between policing units and local authorities is essential to combat illegal trade and maintain law and order across Sedibeng. The SAPS continues to work with stakeholders to ensure ongoing enforcement of liquor laws in the Sedibeng District.
