Sedibeng SAPS says current data shows there is no serial killer in Vanderbijlpark
BREAKING NEWS: The Sedibeng SAPS says there is currently no data that shows that a serial killer is on the loose in Vanderbijlpark. This comes after social media was flooded with panic in reaction to reports of various murders in the CW area of Vanderbijlpark recently. Police spokesperson, Captain Fikile Funda, told 90.6 FM News in an interview that six people have been murdered within a 2-kilometre radius in the CW area during the months of July and August this year. Funda says the bodies of two white females, one white male and three African males were found, one of which died in hospital. No arrests have been made and there are no suspects yet. He says all the murders took place between 22:00 pm and 04:00 am in the morning. Funda says claims that 11 females were killed and that some of their eyes were taken out, is baseless and not true. He said the police have put together a team of specialists to determine the modus operandi of the criminal/ criminals and to investigate if this was indeed the work of a serial killer, but at this stage the data shows it is not. However, he encouraged anyone who might have information on these murders to come forward and assist the SAPS by contacting the Branch Commander Captain Mahlaha on 082 335 6785, the police station on 016 910 9046 or Crime Stop on 0860 10111.
