Sedinbeng SAPS disposes of confiscated liquor

SHARPEVILLE - The station commander of Evaton Police Station, Brigadier Sibuyi, represented Major General Nkhensani Lemba at the second liquor disposal event held at the Leeukuil Water Treatment facility in Sharpeville On Friday, 23 August. The event involved the destruction of alcohol confiscated from illegal liquor outlets that flouted liquor laws. In the Sedibeng District, alcohol is a major contributor to various crimes. Sibuyi emphasized the police's commitment to holding illegal operators accountable, stating that if underage individuals are found on the premises, the owner will be charged. He further noted that if an establishment is charged for a third time, the liquor board will revoke its license. Fati Manamela, Chief Director of the Gauteng Liquor Board, supported the SAPS' actions, emphasizing the dangers of illicit alcohol, which not only poses health risks but also impacts the economy through lost tax revenue. The event underscores ongoing efforts to combat illegal alcohol sales and their harmful effects on communities.
