VAAL TRIANGLE - There is some good news for Vaal motorists at the beginning of this new year. Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe, today announced downward adjustments to fuel prices effective from tomorrow. According to the department’s manager for the Energy Division, Robert Maake, the prices are set to decrease primarily due to a decline in crude oil prices. Maake says motorists are expected to benefit as the slate levy decreases from 26.32- to zero-cents-per-litre starting tomorrow. He says this adjustment reflects current local and international factors impacting fuel prices. Petrol (93 ULP and LRP) will fall by 62 cents per litre from Wednesday, while 95 ULP and LRP will fall by 76.00 c/l. Diesel will be cut by 118.32 c/l (0.05% sulphur) and 126.32 c/l (0.005% sulphur). The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will fall by 93 c/l. The maximum LP Gas Retail Price, meanwhile, will increase by 11 cents per kilogram.
