The DA condemns violent ANC disruption during Emfuleni No-Confidence Motion

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Democratic Alliance has strongly condemned the violent actions of the ANC during yesterday’s Motion of No Confidence against Emfuleni’s ANC Mayor. The DA, along with partners including the EFF and Freedom Front plus, had secured 45 votes against the ANC coalition’s 44, ensuring a majority for the motion. However, in a desperate attempt to block the vote, the ANC coalition resorted to chaotic and violent disruptions, including the forceful removal of the Council Speaker and destruction of municipal property. This prevented the motion from proceeding to a vote. The DA initiated the Motion of No Confidence to address critical failures by the ANC Mayor, including collapsed water and electricity services, a R6-billion Eskom debt, non-payment of salaries, and non-existent waste collection.

Despite the disruption, the DA remains resolute. Gauteng DA leader Solly Msimanga affirmed that the motion will return to the agenda, promising better governance for Emfuleni residents.
