SASOLBURG - The DA says the Metsimaholo Local Municipality’s waste department has rented the services of a compacting company to supply seven compactor trucks, replacing the municipality’s unserviceable fleet, since December. DA Chief Whip Ruanda Meyer highlighted the indefinite delay in acquiring new trucks, labeling it a significant waste of taxpayers’ money. The DA raised concerns that there is no transparency on monthly expenses related to these rentals while the municipality continues to incur undisclosed costs. The DA demands immediate action from the municipality to purchase new compactor trucks, ending the reliance on costly rentals. They plan to propose a motion at the next council meeting to allocate funds for this purpose, aiming to ensure efficient waste management and better use of public funds. The DA pledges to hold the administration accountable, advocating for financial prudence and improved service delivery for the community.
