VANDERBIJLPARK - The DA says that giving a lifeline to the struggling ArcelorMittal SA now is merely a temporary solution. The party believes it will not help the local steel industry stay afloat in the long term. The government indicated last week that it is considering plans to assist the company to prevent thousands of people from losing their jobs. There were also calls from the automotive manufacturing industry last week to support the company. The DA stated that if the government decides to provide a financial lifeline, the party will not support the decision.
