VANDERBIJLPARK - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng has launched a petition demanding answers from the Gauteng Provincial Government regarding the whereabouts of over R24-million spent for the construction of the Palm Springs Multi-purpose Centre in Emfuleni. Residents have been waiting for this much-needed facility to promote local talent and positive role models through sports. However, the party recently conducted an oversight inspection of the area designated for the multipurpose centre. The DA’s, Kingsol Chabalala, says not a single brick has been laid despite millions having been spent on this project. In 2020, then-MEC Lebogang Maile claimed phase one had been completed at a cost of R24-million. Yet, there is no evidence of work done. The project, initially set for completion in 2018, remains stalled, with no clear timeline.
