DENEYSVILLE - The Democratic Alliance (DA) has raised alarm over the misuse of public funds and neglect of community infrastructure at the Deneysville Sports Ground. Despite an allocated R14-million for upgrades through the 2014/2015 Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG), the project has failed to deliver, with only two multi-purpose courts and a few containers converted into bathrooms, which remain unconnected to water infrastructure and have been vandalized. During an oversight visit on August 26, Cllr Jeff Zwane found that the sports ground does not reflect the R7-million reportedly spent. The DA expressed concern over the Metsimaholo Local Municipality's mismanagement and plans to allocate an additional R10-million, questioning the municipality’s oversight capabilities. The DA will write to the Ministers of CoGTA and Finance, demanding a thorough investigation and accountability for the funds spent, to ensure that the residents of Refengkgotso receive the promised infrastructure and services.
