VAAL TRIANGLE - The Department of Water and Sanitation will continue monitoring the Integrated Vaal River System following dam level increases. The recent heavy rainfall in Gauteng caused the Vaal River to overflow, forcing the department to open five sluice gates. However, Vaal Dam's water levels have dropped to 114,38%. The department also reduced the water released in Bloemhof Dam from 2,100 to 1,800 cubic meters per second. The department's spokesperson, Wisane Mavasa, urged residents living in the dam systems' floodline to continue evacuating to stay safe.
