The Free State must rally behind the DA to reject the NHI Bill.

SASOLBURG - Vaal Triangle residents living in the Free State will have an opportunity to publicly have their say on the planned National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill tomorrow, 11 October 2023. The Democratic Alliance said the public hearing, held by the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), will take place from 10:00 am at the New Multi Purpose Centre in Sasolburg. The party says should the Bill be passed by the NCOP, it will be signed into law by the President, potentially destroying an already distressed healthcare system. The DA said the Bill will eventually prohibit people from belonging to medical aids and impede on their constitutional rights to choose, and on the right to access to medical care. Removing the right to choose a medical aid means that there will be no distinction between public or private healthcare, and in terms of the pathway system in the Bill, a person will not have the choice of which facility to attend, only whichever is closest.
