VAAL TRIANGLE - The Gauteng Provincial Government is empowering disadvantaged youth by offering free learner’s licenses to address high youth unemployment and promote responsible attitudes toward alcohol and road safety. The campaign, “Wrong Side of the Road,” focuses on assisting young people, aged 17-34, with the administrative fees for securing learner’s licenses. More than 130-thousand responses have been received, although the target is 40-thousand. The initiative has also reserved 10-thousand licenses for motorbike learners to support Project Last-Mile, connecting young people to job opportunities. Successful applicants will be informed of their progress in the programme via SMS and WhatsApp.
