The Transport department says drivers still need licence despite backlog

VAAL TRIANGLE - Motorists across the Vaal Triangle are reminded to ensure they have valid licence documents or face possible fines. The Department of Transport says that the delay in processing driving licences is not a valid excuse for drivers to not have a licence on hand. This comes as the department and the Driving Licence Card Account deal with a backlog of applications. The backlog was caused by the breakdown of the country’s only card printing machine earlier this year. The department says those affected by the backlog must provide valid proof or risk being fined.
