VEREENIGING - The Vereeniging Magistrates Court postponed the trial of Sizwe Buthelezi, accused of murdering Nomvula Chenene, sister of former Orlando Pirates star Bennett Chenene, to Wednesday, June 11, 2024. Buthelezi's appearance on Tuesday, January 16, saw the case delayed due to the court's engagement in another trial. The magistrate cited time constraints for postponing Buthelezi's case, originally scheduled for June 11-13, with all witnesses present. The accused faces a murder charge for allegedly killing Nomvula in December 2022, burying her in a shallow grave in Lakeside near Orange Farm. Nomvula's body was discovered three months later and laid to rest after another three months. Expressing relief, Bennett Chenene, now a prophet, stated that the extended trial has finally granted his family closure. The key witness, Buthelezi's girlfriend, is expected to play a crucial role in the case, disclosing details to the police about Nomvula's burial in their shack. Bennett Chenene hopes for a severe prison sentence as an example against mistreating lesbian women.
