VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS says two suspects were arrested last week for the possession of unlicensed firearms and dealing in drugs. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu, said in a statement sent to 90.6 FM News that on Friday, 10 May 2024, the Vanderbiljpark SAPS Task Team received information about two African males who were suspected to be drug dealers and allegedly had illegal firearms in their possession. The information was followed up by police members who, upon their arrival at the given addresses in Bophelong, managed to identify the suspects and searched their houses. Sigcu said during the search, two unlicensed firearms, live ammunition and drugs (mandrax, crystal meth and nyaope) were found in both houses. He said the duo was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and dealing in drugs. Colonel Mashele applauded the Vanderbiljpark Task team’s swift response and emphasised the importance of the community members who are working hand in hand with police members.
