Vaal residents invited to take part in International Mandela Day today

VAAL TRIANGLE - Vaal Triangle residents are invited to take part in International Nelson Mandela Day today, a day where individuals and communities worldwide are urged to dedicate 67 minutes to serving others. This year’s theme is, "It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequality". The Nelson Mandela Foundation is collaborating with the United Nations to host 17 TEDx talks based on the Sustainable Development Goals at the Gordon Institute of Business Science in Johannesburg today. The foundation’s, Gushwell Brooks, says everyone has a shared responsibility in shaping a better future.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, is urging everyone to perform 67 minutes of public service today to honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy. Guterres says Mandela showed the world the extraordinary difference one person can make.
