VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS has issued a renewed warning that criminals use every chance they get to rob and/or hijack vehicles in the Vanderbijlpark and Bophelong areas. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu, said in a statement sent to 90.6 FM News that motorists are also advised to rather park their vehicles inside their yards when visiting their loved ones. He says parking in an isolated place poses a risk of being hijacked or robbed of your belongings. Sigcu further advised communities to lock their houses at all times, even when they are home, to prevent “uninvited guests” that are roaming the streets from entering their homes. He said vigilance is key as one cannot identify a criminal until the crime has actually been committed. According to Sigcu, the visibility of police members and patrollers in these areas have been strengthened in order to curb these criminal activities.
