Vanderbijlpark SAPS issues warning against armed robbers operating in isolated areas

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS has issued a warning to Vanderbijlpark and Bophelong residents about armed robbers targeting individuals who walk alone in isolated areas. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu, said in a statement sent to 90.6 FM News that it has become more and more frequent that criminals walk in groups, carrying dangerous weapons and robbing isolated individuals of their valuables. Sigcu said there are no trends as to the times and places that the robbers strike – they see an opportunity and take a chance. Therefore, he urged community members to be vigilant and avoid walking alone, especially in so-called “shady”, isolated areas. Sigcu further encouraged the community to report any criminal activities in their area to their nearest police station.
