Vanderbijlpark SAPS issues warning against truck and car hijackings

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS says Sedibeng is seeing an increase in truck and car hijackings. According to police spokesperson, Sgt Sabelo Sigcu, a recent truck hijacking occurred at around 10:30, where a five-ton Hino truck was hijacked near the N1 and R553 roads. Sigcu said the suspects, driving a white sedan, blocked the truck from the front and another vehicle that the driver did not see blocked him from behind. He said the truck was forced to stop and two unknown armed suspects came out. The pointed a firearm at the truck driver, tied him up and blindfolded him. They then took him to an unknown destination, robbed him of his cellphone and cash, and fled the scene with the truck he was driving.
