Vanderbijlpark SAPS says 22-year-old gets 10 years in prison for assaulting his grandfather

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS says the 22-year-old Kamohelo Bolofo has been sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment after violently hitting his grandfather with a brick. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu, yesterday said in a statement sent to 90.6 FM News that Bolofo was found guilty for hitting his grandfather with a brick after the old man refused to give him a house key. Sigcu said the grandfather screamed for help as he laid down next to the gate. Other family members came to his aid and rushed him to hospital. Family members allegedly already reported Bolofo’s violent behavior the day before the incident. Sigcu said on the day, police members swiftly responded and arrested the accused on the same day. Detective Sergeant Phake did not waste any time in concluding the investigation and the law took its course. The Gauteng Regional Court found Bolofo guilty and on 9 April 2025, sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
