Vanderbijlpark SAPS warns motorists against recklessness as festive season approaches

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS has issued a kind warning to motorists to be alert at all times as the festive season approaches. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu, said in a statement sent to 90.6 FM News that Vanderbiljpark and Bophelong police members are monitoring all types of criminal activities which are most common when approaching the festive season. Sigcu said amongst the common crimes is driving under the influence of illegal substances, like liquor and drugs, while robberies are also usually common during this time of year. He warned motorists to refrain from driving motor vehicles under the influence of any substance that may impede someone’s reasoning, as they have made many of these arrests, especially over weekends recently. He said Vanderbijlpark police members are ensuring that they remain highly visible in communities and on the roads to secure a safe environment. Sigcu also encouraged the community is also being urged to work hand in hand with police members as we approach the festive season.
