Vereeniging substation experiences a power outage due to an explosion.

VEREENIGING - The Emfuleni Local Municipality says that on the 21st of December, the municipality experienced an explosion that affected the 22kV distribution system at the Vereeniging Substation. According to ELM, the electricity department has exhausted all plans to restore power without success. The best option left is to secure new panels which will only be available in 16 weeks time. ELM says efforts to procure ring main units are also underway, which once obtained and delivered to the substation, will take a maximum of 2 days to install and commission. The Municipality anticipates to restore power by Monday, 08 January 2024, pleading for patience from Mtec, CBI, Mittal, and Transnet consumers. ELM apologised for the inconvenience.
