Writer: 90.6 FM News90.6 FM News

VAAL TRIANGLE - The call centre of the Gauteng Emergency Management System says it recently received more than 1,500 calls, most of which were related to suicide attempts on Monday evenings. The increase corresponds to a study that appeared in the journal, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, which indicates an increasing suicide rate over the summer holidays. A clinical psychologist, Suntosh Pillay, discussed the worrying trend on eNCA and says it is related to increased pressure.
