Body of a young student found in a dam on the NWU Vaal campus

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS says the body of a young male student was found in a dam on the North West University Vaal campus on Friday. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu, said in a statement sent to 90.6 FM News that the Vanderbijlpark police rushed to the scene after receiving the complaint. There they found the body of a young African man floating in the nearby dam behind the cafeteria inside the North West University campus. Sigcu said the university’s gardener made the discovery and informed the protection services of the NWU. All relevant stakeholders were called to the scene. Sigcu said there were no visible injuries on the deceased’s body. He was certified dead at the scene and transported to the mortuary. Sigcu encouraged students or anyone else who might have seen anything concerning the drowning of the deceased to contact the Vanderbijlpark police station, or their investigating team anonymously on 071 675 7246.
