Boipatong SAPS opens inquest after body found in stream

BOIPATONG - The Boipatong SAPS is investigating an inquest following the discovery of a body in a stream behind Lebohang Secondary School on Monday morning. At approximately 06:00, an anonymous call alerted police to the lifeless body of an unknown African male found face-up in shallow water under a bridge. Police arrived to find concerned residents at the scene. The deceased was wearing a brown jersey, blue Fabian T-shirt, blue jeans, and grey All Star sneakers. Warrant Officer Vermeulen from the SAPS Water Wing assisted with the retrieval. Paramedics declared the man dead at the scene, noting visible bruising on both sides of his jaw. Forensic and investigative teams have been called in, and a formal inquest docket has been opened to determine the cause of death. Boipatong Police spokesperson Constable Selina Mthimkulu urges anyone with information about the man or the circumstances surrounding his death to come forward and assist with the investigation.
