SEBOKENG - MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo Ralehoko together with the Gauteng Department of Health’s senior managers are taking the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Appropriations led by Chairperson, Mmusi Maimane on an oversight visit to Sebokeng Regional Hospital, to observe the plans currently in effect to accommodate the influx of patients at the facility. Sebokeng Regional Hospital has partnered with Kopanong Hospital to alleviate pressure on its Orthopaedics Ward by transferring minor surgeries. The Department is also advancing technological improvements to enhance patient management, with staff training underway for a new electronic filing system. In November 2024, the hospital will unveil a new Paediatric Accident and Emergency Unit, providing a supportive environment for children and their caregivers. During the oversight visit, challenges faced by staff will also be addressed. The oversight visit also seeks to understand the main causes of medico-legal claims, which remain a concern as they redirect funds away from maintaining and expanding healthcare services.
