SA Steel Mills prohibited from acting against striking workers

VAAL TRIANGLE - Metalworkers' union Numsa has welcomed a ruling by the Labour Court preventing SA Steel Mills in the Vaal Triangle from allegedly unlawfully disciplining and dismissing workers. The union had taken the company to court after it suspended 162 workers for allegedly participating in an unprotected strike. They argue the employer's actions are premature pending a final court ruling on the strike's legality. The legality of the strike is set to be determined at the Labour Court on Thursday. Numsa’s Phakamile Hlubi-Majola vows ongoing support for their members, ensuring fair treatment throughout legal proceedings. A response from SA Steel Mills is not available at this time, but the News Team will report on it if it becomes available.
