VEREENIGING - The Vereeniging SAPS has issued a warning to residents as the area sees a seasonal increase in robberies, including house, business, common, and armed robberies. Brigadier Sibongile Ndaba, Station Commander at Vereeniging SAPS, has advised community members to remain alert and avoid sharing personal or financial information in public spaces, as criminals may use this to target victims. A worrying new tactic has also emerged, where suspects apply an unknown substance to individuals that makes them feel disoriented and then supposedly rush to the help the victims. Police believe these acts are carried out by well-organized syndicates aiming to distract and rob unsuspecting victims. Spokesperson Nthabiseng Mokhachane encouraged everyone to be vigilant. She said that if you sense danger, make noise, attract attention, and contact the police immediately. Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity or mergencies to Vereeniging SAPS at 082 558 2348, 112, 10111, 08600 10111, or through the MySAPS App.
