VANDERBIJLPARK - The Emfuleni Local Municipality says a successful joint operation in collaboration with the South African Police Service, Gauteng Department of Community Safety, Emfuleni Local Municipality Public Safety and Crime Prevention Wardens was conducted on Friday, 02 August 2024. In celebration of Women’s Month, the female law enforcement officers conducted a lengthy roadblock at the Barrage Road to curb acts of crime and increase police visibility in Emfuleni. The operation was focused on the checking of traffic fines, law enforcement, a stop and search for dangerous weapons and stolen goods. The officers collected a little under R25,000 in overdue traffic fines and issued 18 summons to the value of R9,000. Owing to a concerning increase in acts of crime in the area, law enforcement officers in the region have committed to visible policing as an ongoing measure of the municipal crime prevention strategy. ELM encouraged members of the public to ensure that fines, municipal accounts and other payments are made as required.
